Inequality

A story in the Guardian today explains how the book The Spirit Level by two university teachers (which allegedly demonstrates how income inequality is the root of every social ill and that the government should raise taxes for the rich or lower their incomes) was relentlessly attacked by academics and conservative think tanks who denounced the interpretation and the selection of statistics in the book.

In addition, the image illustrating the article in the paper edition is striking, it shows the juxtaposition of a very wealthy and a very poor neighborhood in Sao Paulo (Brasil) - Copyright Tuca Viera in The Guardian.
